Le Bas des Duresses is one of the most famous premier cru climats in Auxey-Duresses. It faces south-southeast and is ideally suited to the Pinot Noir grape. These old vines grow on very pebbly brown limestone marl. This highly-reputed climat combines remarkable power, richness, and longevity. The wines produced here offer great energy, beautiful elegance, and aromas of black fruits reminiscent of some of the great wines of Pommard. This is undoubtedly a premier cru wine with great potential. It should be laid down for a few years in the cellar.
