Ideally situated at the top of the hillside in Auxey-Duresses, the “Les Vireux” climat thrives on a prime slope right on the border of the Meursault “Les Vireuils” appellation. This exceptional terroir historically takes its name from an old French word evoking the plots of land that follow the curve of the hillside. Grown at the edge of the forest, these old Chardonnay vines are rooted in a shallow, very stony limestone soil marbled with red-brown iron oxides. The nose reveals a delicate bouquet of white flowers. On the palate, the wine is lively, elegant and driven by a remarkable tension, before giving way to a fresh finish with briny notes.
